I discovered, that my bug is a duplicate from bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/656745. The
workaround proposed in #50 is working for me. the problem seems to be in
/usr/lib/pm-utils/pow
probably related to some of the reported bugs in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/610055

Binary package hint: xorg
the freeze occurs
- when running on battery: on the login screen or some seconds after the
desktop has been loaded completely
- when running on power: only when I unplug the power-supply (immediately).
Without plugging out the cord maverick works
