This is the only machine I have with intel graphics. I did try the
kernel on a machine with nvidia G8400 and a machine with a Radeon
Mobility 9700 and it worked fine.

Hi here are my details,
Product 3249CTO, Intel i5 +915, latest BIOS 1.15
Blank screen 100% reproducible whenever I try to boot to the default latest
kernel.
Works without flaw when I use err_most += 50; and compile the kernel.
Anything else I can do to help debug this please let me know.

Just to recap
run failsafeX from the recovery tools (I had to append the i915.modeset=0 to
the boot options)
download and install Jeffrey's debs.
Run:
sudo update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.32.11+drm33.2-x201
sudo update-grub
sudo reboot

Alternatively (this works for me with Lucid, Nvidia with grub2) you can
edit your grub (sudo gedit /etc/default/grub) file and add the
following:
GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1280x800x32
then run:
sudo update-grub
The "keep" borks the terminals for gfxpayload but the
GRUB_GFXPAYLO

I can confirm this with a Japanese GDM and English and Korean Users.

If you look at your GDMlog1.txt this error occurs (same with mine). This
looks like a duplicate of Bug #532195 and I am marking it as so.

Oh by the way Thomas did you know your current post attachments appear
to be using the Nouveau driver not the Nvidia propriety? I will switch
back to the Nvidia and post the logs for that, if you could do the same
it may be useful for the developers to debug this issue. Don't keep them
on the 08 dr
I have a similar issue on my DELL M1330.
The only difference is that I go straight to GDM or to a screen with the
wallpaper of my GDM and no login interface.
Nouveau works fine.
I have tried the Suspend-Hibernate troubleshooting guide and there is nothing
logged. I will try the the steps outlined

I don't normally check these things as Ubuntu usually doesn't do this sort of
thing, but the only driver I can load in Lucid is 195.36.08 (the 173 driver
fails), which is from my understanding a beta driver. The latest production is
190.53 from Nvidia's website. Now is this not a bit crazy for a
