I too face the same issue. As a result the mouse keeps flickering and at
times becomes almost invisible due to the very high rate of flickering,
affecting the normal use of the system. I feel this is a critical issue.

It looks removing the nouveau alone solved the problem, as the nvidia
proprietary driver is not being used currently.
$ jockey-text -l
xorg:nvidia_current - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (Proprietary,

I have upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04(both amd64)
Upgrade was completed successfully. System was rebooted and I got the graphical
login prompt.
Every thing was normal for some time, but while I typed the password system got
frozen.
