Okay i looked into it more, my apologies i can see someone else posted a
comment where it says 32bit. Odd as i have switched to 32bit with a PAE
Kernel and no more issues.

Okay just to check is everyone here on 64bit or is this affecting 32bit
users too?
I am currently on a brand new just installed 32bit install with a PAE
Kernel and so far not a single freeze.
Need to track this one down everyone.

I also have this issue, it can range from having nothing open and simply
moving the mouse, to doing hours of work and it freezes.
It has happened for me since Jaunty and no one can seem to pinpoint what
it is.

Okay thanks for that, maybe for next ubuntu release it will be ready but
as you said it's not a step backwards as we didn't have it before.
So i take it the daily cd for the 19th will have this fix right?

I am pretty sure that file actually has a purpose simply removing it i
doubt is a sane option for "fixing" the bug. That would be a temporary
solution for people until the fix is out (which i am download a daily
iso to test to see if that actually works).

Just adding in a "me too" it will get to the loading screen, the white
bars will keep going up, screen flickers and then it goes back to that
loading screen only it is completely frozen.
