Hi,
Today i've installed OpenSUSE 11.2 for testing, and i dont have any of this 2
lags, freezes, etc. in either konsole or the OS at all. Kubuntu karmic is
working very bad on my laptop and i see no devs care about this bug and none is
helping us to debug on it.
Hope this change.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Any news about this guys? Acer aspire 5XXX Notebooks are very common (at
least here in Argentina) and have simile hardware which if all of them
have this "bug" will be very annoying. Personally, my Family have 3 of
this series...

OK, I think I found the ultimate workaround. :)
If you hate running randr all the time, as much as I do, you can try
this:
1.- Make sure your 'Section "Device"' contains this:
Driver "intel"
2.- Add the following section:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "TV"
Opt

UXA fixes all the bugs of the previous driver: Display corruptions and X
freezes. Plus, it doesn't introduce _any_ bugs.
So, I'd really recommend it to you.

Forgot to add that UXA works flawlessly, it doesn't introduce another
bug. It just works like a charm (I've been using it for one week, played
3D games, used 3D effects, etc).

In addition to the freezes, I also experienced display corruptions as
described in another bug report. All the problems are gone after using

A workaround for this bug is to use UXA, at least on my system. I
haven't noticed side-issues with this solution, it works like a charm.
Given that it's obviously a problem with the default version of xserver
Downgrading xserver-xorg-video-intel as explained here

fixes the freezes, but introduces more bugs (Can't play 3D games
anymore, window transparencies don't work anymore, etc).
Should I include the Dell Ubuntu Project in this bug?
