Public bug reported:
General display corruption involving some screen elements and not
others. Long-running bug since literally forever as it is measured for
the R690M. Free driver has never properly supported R690M, fglrx has
never supported it at all. Stuck with Vista, please help.
ProblemType:
For my part this turned out to be a die bonding error that HP knew was a
problem with my laptop, but it took me literally over a day on the phone to
get someone to admit it and send me another machine... after two
"technician" visits that left my laptop unbootable and not just glitching.

I just found this bug by searching because I am having the problem ATM
with Maverick and Ubuntu on fresh install with nVidia drivers via repo.
Am not running unclutter (seeing some related bugs?) and more
interestingly was not having this problem on migrated install upgraded
through each step appro
This all happens on my Gateway 3201u. (M690E chipset)

aaand another pic of the corruption, this showing damage to fonts.
the mouse pointer also becomes a big block (perhaps 100px or so?) of
noise. having more windows open at once makes it happen easier, e.g.
firefox and chromium.

I've been having similar problems when smooth scrolling but not when
fast scrolling, so presumably it has to do with some sort of
acceleration problem in the driver. I've been having these problems with
every version of Lucid so far. I did not have them with Karmic. I can
trigger video corruption r
