My wife's Dell laptop had freezes as well. I believe hers was solved by uninstalling or disabling gnome-screensaver. She finds that if she never closes the laptop lid, it rarely if ever locks up. I also uninstalled gnome-screensaver on my laptop, since my "forced logouts" almost always came when
