For me this started to manifest in the last months; Xorg started crashing
randomly after I resume from sleep.
In the meantime, I've installed Xubuntu 18.04 from scratch (keeping only the
/home partition) hoping that the problem would be gone. But it isn't.

After switching to Ubuntu 15.10, my miniDisplay port adapter doesn't work
anymore, or in rare cases , it works, but it gives a maximum resolution of
1024x768 (whereas the monitor is 1920x1080).
