since noble so that it's failing now. In 48.alpha release notes I see:

[Plucky] Ubuntu's Remote Desktop Sharing error after upgrading Mesa to
"25.0.7-0ubuntu0.25.04.1"
My sd card had 24.04 on it, so I used the backport packages from
ppa:canonical-x/x-staging instead of reinstalling with plucky (for now
at least).
And it still works even with the new mesa. It's using the GA 6.8 kernel
though, wonder if that makes a difference.

No luck with a minimal spirv-tools backport, the build error just moved
elsewhere and would require further backports
And in order to not break glslang, we'd need to backport it too.
Verified by running it's autopkgtests, that backporting only spirv-tools
breaks glslang, but updating both is good.

libvpl shouldn't be backported as-is, but with the old source name, and
since it's based on -1 the backported version should carry it too
the uploaded onevpl-intel-gpu was newer than what was in plucky so it
was too early to sponsor, but I synced a newer version to plucky..

oh, there's a difference between 'apt' and 'apt-get'.
after installing 'libegl-mesa0 libglx-mesa0 mesa-vulkan-drivers mesa-va-
drivers' on a chroot, and enabling noble-updates I get
apt-get upgrade
...
The following packages have been kept back:
libegl-mesa0 libgbm1 libglapi-mesa libglx-mesa0 m
actually, it probably does the right thing now, preventing a partial
upgrade with 'apt upgrade'.. in order to upgrade (with apt) you'd need
'apt dist-upgrade' since there's the new mesa-libgallium which will get
installed as a result

Due to hardware changes, GFX12 is not functional with mesa 24.2.8, and
doesn't start working until upstream mesa 25.0. This series of backports
(11 commits) will get it working on Mesa 24.2.8.
