solved! by deleting via synaptic all fglrx packages and installing fglrx_8.723.1-0ubuntu4_i386.deb (also modded /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh to run(dirty fix by -n to !) because $FORCE_ATI_UNINSTALL not recognized inside script ) -- Does not support current Lucid kernel (2.6.32) or xserver
