I built some oneiric packages using the 2 patches from xdebug4. Files are here:

I just rebuilt these after cleaning up the changelog and version
numbers, but I've been running the same code for several days now with
no crashes.

Some more data, which may or may not be useful:
I am unable to reproduce this bug using Selene's method (rapidly
forcing window redraws) and both my machines having the problem are
using the nvidia xorg server.
The only way I've been able to trigger this is to start xterms (and
xterms only) (#8

X crashes upon opening an xterm after a variable amount of time. I've been
able to recreate this bug under Natty
(xserver-xorg-core: 2:1.10.1-1ubuntu1.2) and Oneiric (2:1.10.4-1ubuntu4.2) but
