Public bug reported:
I have a Nivida Geforce 7600 GS on a machine used infrequently. A month
of so ago it worked fine, recent updates have broken the graphics
drivers.
It can boot to the login screen which looks OK, but is almost
unresponsive bringing up a desktop. Even for a guest login. Once
295.33-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 has just been release which seems to have
fixed the gnome3 crashing problems.

Hi Karl. You must either be experiencing a different bug or you have not
set "#use_animation_program= 0". The original bug was a crash in the
function "cal_render_actor_shader()". That funct

I've just installed the 2.6.34-rc3 mainline kernel and the problem not
only still exists for the eternallands game but also shows the problem
with extremetuxracer. extremetuxracer works with the current default
Lucid kernel (although it did have the problem a week or so ago).

Matthew, my comments are the standard response when trying to help
identify a package for a bug where one is not present. The comment is
intended more for future bug reporting not just the current bug.
Apologies to all if I identified the wrong package, at least my effort
got the ball rolling.

Sorry I was mistaken. Having remove your packages, extremetuxracer
still works and so must have been fixed by some other change. Lucid
change is still quite rapid

I have this problem on a Thinkpad X31 with ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility

Your new kernel and header packages have fixed the problem for me with
extremetuxracer but not for the unofficial package eternallands (a 3d MMORPG).
Is there anything extra I could provide to help?

A couple of other things to try would be:
1) Turning off desktop effects (if they are on).
2) Setting "#poor_man= 1" in you el.ini file.

Arnaldo, I don't suppose that setting "#use_animation_program= 0" in

either 173 or (via a ppa) 190. The 185 driver appears to be rather

other drivers work perfectly.
Arnaldo, could you attach the files ~/.elc/main/infos.log
Could someone explain please why this has been marked invalid? The
problem exists and while there is a work around it would be better to
have the fixed setting as the default configuration.
