A possible workaround for those who:
- Use a laptop (I guess)
- Rarely do a full boot
- Are still willing to wait for a while for the bug to be fixed
I have my laptop set to suspend on lid close, so after the machine has
stopped booting (no more disk activity), I suspend and resume. This
restores
I tried this with a Live Karmic CD. Seems like the problem exists, since
the projector loses sync. Unfortunately, I do not have another screen,
and I cannot get in via the network to diagnose. Being a live CD, I do
not know how to change it so that I could get in and get the files you
requested.

FINALLY, after a year of suffering with vesa and no video playback,
happened upon a simple workaround to this problem which was originally
described for AE100 and works for me on AE700. The workaround is
