With the newest packages and KMS, the flickering with flash videos is
gone. The other problem with VDR seems to be related to VDR or libxine,
as I can reproduce it on a radeon-based system, too (or even with
X11/XShm output).

I see the same behaviour on my Thinkpad X200, too. After resume from
suspend (to disk or to RAM), the screen stays black (the backlight is
on).

I disabled desktop effects a week ago, and since then I had no further
crash after resuming von S3. So it's possible that it's related to 3D
acceleration or compiz.

I found a workaround: After disabling "Sync to vblank" in compizconfig-
settings-manager, My desktop is usable again.

After switching to metacity everything is fine; glxgears and video
