Thank you SO much, it works as expected.
I notice only now that several ppa were already set-up. (sorry but there is too
much comments here ;))
Which ppa is recommend ? which one will be maintain up to date ? and for
jaunty ?

More simple (because there is not enough time remaining for karmic), just
provide an OPTIONAL package in repositories.
This way, there will be no problem with intel/nvidia users.
An other (temporally) solution may be to set up a ppa with the patched
xorg → it will be easier than patching/compilin
