I've installed 346.47, and the behaviour is exactly the same. Screen
works on the left-hand side, but full screen behaviour is incorrect.

I was able to install Nvidia Driver 346.35 (as it was the latest version
available in the repository), the situation is indeed beter. The
graphics is no longer corrupted. I am able to use my monitor positioned
on the left side.
There is however one issue, the screen is visible to Ubuntu as a

Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus

I have installed NVIDIA 340.76.
On Nouveau it doesn't happen this way, but Nouveau is a different story.
There I have some sort of artefacts, the system is overall very slow,
and mouse pointer is blinking.

my computer to report Optimus and to use Nvidia Optimus technology.

The system freezes after boot at a login screen. The only option to get
it booted is to go to a BIOS settings and modify settings in a way that
an integrated card is used, and the BIOS doesn't report an Optimus Card
to an operating system.
