After enabling second display through nvidia-settings I get a lot of
garbage on both displays and then Unity freezes like it's described in
bug 828761. This worked fine in 11.04 haven't checked on oneiric
though...

Resume from suspend takes much more time when nvidia
Well it seems that it does but (for me at least) it happens much much less
often with gnome-shell than with Unity and as you said it recovers much more
smoothly. The difference is so big that I'm not even sure that it's the same
bug... But if it is then we're left only with nvidia-drivers issue
I've decided to mark it confirmed again in linux (ubuntu) so I don't
have to issue a new raport as all my findings are still up to date.
Brightness control still doesn't work and there was no action on making
the patch I proposed part of either the linux nor ubuntu kernel.

On LiveCD it's fine and so is when I disable proprietary nvidia driver
on actual install. After a fresh install everything works fine until I
use jockey to enable proprietary driver. Knowing this I was almost sure
it's nvidia-current issue but then I've tried installing Gnome Shell and
everything w

issue is limited to Unity.

After one of the latest updates brightness control started working.
Sadly the effect is far from desired. There are only 3 levels of
brightness and the difference between them is to big. Going anywhere
below 3rd. level makes screen flicker. I believe this might be also
related to nvidia driver.

Well you're right on this one Robert. After switching to gdm I get
exactly the same results. Also switching between consoles with alt-ctrl-
Fx takes much longer than it used to. So it seems it's not directly
suspend related. I'm betting here on X/unity/compiz issue...

OK so, using linux-
image-2.6.37-999-generic_2.6.37-999.201011171042_amd64 the touchpad
works and there is no need to add i8042.nopnp to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX!
Sadly it is still wrongly detected as ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse...

This is very brief so I pulled the inf file from the windows drivers
delivered by sony. It's called "oem22.inf" and hopefully you'll find all
the necessary inf
Yes I had a mouse attached while reporting this problem but the lines
you quoted stand for the touchpad. My mouse is detected correctly as
"Ci25m Notebk Optical".

Hi, thanks for quick response!
I've attached the devices file you asked for.
By "not detected at all" I mean that before adding
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i8042.nopnp" to /etc/default/grub the touchpad was
completely unusable - there was no cursor movement no reaction from buttons and
it wasn't listed
