There is no specific scenario when the system crashes. In most cases the
system crashes completely, but occasionally the system recovers.
The system was freshly installed and updated with latest packages.

I'm now using 1.13.0 having the same issue.
Reverting the patch from comment #1 fixes the issue for me.
