I found a workaround by installing the libinput driver. I did the following: Remove the synaptics driver: sudo aptitude purge xsever-xorg-input-synaptics Make sure the configuration file is gone sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf Install the libinput driver and tools sudo aptit
