I tried the deb on Quantal as well and get the "Not using GLX TFP"
-problem that nvidia won't fix. So unless gnome-shell gets fixed
someday, that box will run in gnome fallback mode with bluetile. Might
as well have stuck with VESA. I think gdm even ran a bit faster with it
:)

Also confirmed here and waiting on this. X isn't completely unusable,
though. At least for me VESA still works. That does mean running the
desktop in less demanding mode, though.

I have installed libgl1-mesa-glx (to fulfill some package dependencies)
and nvidia-current in parallel. If I run "ldd some_opengl_program", then
it appears that it uses /usr/lib/libGL.so instead of /usr/lib/nvidia-
current/libGL.so.

Timo's workaround seem to work for me too. Both stick and touchpad and
all buttons work now ok.

I can concur this on Dell D600, both stick buttons and touchpad buttons
seem to miss ButtonPress and Button release event's on random starting
with 9.10 release. No such problems on 9.04 or any of the previous
releases.
This is also easy to replicate on 9.10 Desktop 32-bit installation Live-CD:
