I used to have auto login in Mythbuntu 10.04. After reintroducing it, I foung
it as a workaround also to this black screen bug. So command:
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and configure:
autologin-user=
autologin-user-timeout=0
user-session=mythbuntu

Still the overscan is an issue. Also low resolution when using nv. There

Inconsistent EDID information acquired using nvidia-settings and read-

gnome-display-properties names the display as Goldstar Company Ltd 42",

The nvidia-current driver does not work properly on Lucid either (Nvidia
7200 GS and LG 26LC2RA via HDMi). So I have to keep on using 173-version

This happened also with Lucid Lynx and Nvidia 7200 GS card (the current
driver is today 185.18.36-0ubuntu9) . I have to use driver
173.14.22-0ubuntu11.

This overscan issue has to be considered as a manufacturing defect by
LG. The LG display/TV was recently tested with my dealer by connecting a
HDMi output of a DVD player: the same overscan occured.
By the way, I have now used Lucid Lynx and an Nvidia card (driver
version 173 from Jockey) and the
There was the same cropping/overscan issue in Fujitsu Siemens Amilo
M1437 with up to date Karmic Koala 9.10 and the only resolution to be
chosed was 720x480.
But hey, I tested with Windows XP also and there the resolutions are
also really messed up.
