setting useBlur to false resolves the problem for kde kwin users. It's a
workaround.
I still have the bug in my karmic (updated today). I'm testing on a netbook
(eeepc 901) so intel 945gm

The bug has been fixed by intel (I attached to thi bug report the url to
the upstream bug report).
Well, here is the final situation:
bug comes with:
intel 2.9 + qtcurve <= 0.68
intel fixed it in their main branch (proper fix), while the qtcurve mantainer
found a workaround and included it in qt

GTK+ apps do not render in Kubuntu 9.10 b
I tried running evtest after the mouse froze, but wasn't able to capture
the whole output (interrupting the process with ctrl-c apparently
doesn't flush stdout to the file, so it was cut off). However, the
"Testing..." section yielded no results at all. No events were recorded.
