I suggest you to reinstall Jaunty until this bug is addressed - repeated
crashes can destroy a filesystem and I had even to run fsck manually
today to repair a partition (with considerable delay of startup).

The problem is not in proprietary drivers, since people say Ati does not
support. Both distro versions use open source drivers, but probably there is a
regression in the new series.

Are you using Karmic? I have the same video card and Karmic continuosly
freezes while Jaunty has worked perfectly till now.
