I wish to confirm that with me the freezes sometimes happen when watching videos. When this happens the cursor and keyboard respond. I think this issue is related to "compiz" I found a workaround for this issue: When the computer freezes do the following: 1. CTRL+ALT+F1 (to get to the console) 2. login as your user. 3. sudo pkill compiz-redirector Xwindows will appear to restart but the applications running under your X will
