(found in Xorg log) :

just think in changing the xorg version (you seem to have the 1.7.6 instead

first, DL the patch :

Applying last Karmic Koala update today cause this bug appears again.
a xserver-xorg packages was updated, and I''ve had to patch again with Félix
Kuehling's patch.
After applying the patch, problem disappears.

On my dell studio XPS 1640 with ati HD3670, the patch from Félix
Kuehling works perfectly (really thanks félix !!), minimize and resize
windows are no longer a problem for me :-)

I have exactly the same problem (maximise/minimise really slow) I can
add the problem is also present when I use yakuake. It take about 1 to 3
seconds between the moment I press the F12 key (to launch yakuake) and
the moment it appears.
I've ubuntu 9.04 with a radeon 3670hd and FGLRX driver (9.7)
