I can report that installing 302.07 solved my problems. Unity3D, compiz and
OpenGL games all work now.
I had some problems quitting lightdm, it wouldn't completely close... I had to
resort to "sudo killall lightdm" and "sudo pkill -9 /usr/bin/X".

I just noticed that if I'm watching for example a Youtube video, with my
ExpressCard sound card plugged out, then the video is perfectly fluid (but of
course with no sound); then as soon as I plug the card in, and the system
starts streaming audio to it, then the video too gets really choppy - i

This is 11.10, upgraded from 11.04. Soundcard is an ExpressCard "SoundBlaster
X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook".
Sound is unusable as it is, hope it's fixed...

I have the same problem. It wasn't there shortly after 11.04 release,
but it's there now. For me too, after 2-3 windows are open, one gets all
white. Resizing it below a certain size makes it reappear.
