Screen Resolution Changes after leaving the system running with the

I see the screen resolution changed with the user menus gone to the
right most of the screen and the dock not getting out from the left. The
Close buttons of all the apps have gone to the most inner left. I am

Desktop appearance ch
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 (AMD 64 Bit) and with all the updates
installed without using any unofficial PPAs so Unity should be the
latest one. I have a Nvidia Chipset GM8500. Once i get the above
mentioned problem i got to log out and log in back again. I have to save
my work and log out and log in
It happens even with the nvidia drivers too. I don't think so its got to
be with drivers because the other desktop environments work fine and
don't seem to have any problems . I had this issue today morning too.
The status menu to log out/shutdown wasn't even visible as it went
towards the right on
