Release 565.77 is missing i386 builds. Thus it's not possible to run any
older Steam games on linux (like Half-Life 2). Needed to revert back to
560.35.

I faced the same issue with the nouveau driver defaulting to the wrong
resolution during installation. Switching to a proprietary driver after
setup resolved it for me. Has anyone tried a similar fix?

When booting the installation of 24.04 (LTS) I will be presented with a
nice screen. However the resolution is wrong. My screen is actually
1920x1080. However the installation uses a resolution of 2048x1536. It's
a wrong aspect ratio as well, 16:9 vs 4:3.

On a laptop with NVIDIA graphics and
Judging by the video it looks to me like you're seeing two different
framebuffers from the recent past. The reason nothing more recent is
replacing them and you see flicker is because the compositor thinks
Chrome has already opened over the top of the flickering window. So it
never gets updated.
