Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 1813131, so it is being marked as such. Please look
And apparently I solved the mystery. As a desperate attempt I changed
the refresh rate of the from 59.xx Hz to 60 Hz, and Xorg stopped
crashing coming out of suspend. I suggest giving it a try. Note: I do
not know why the screen was initially set to 59.xx Hz.

I have the same issue on a fresh install of the Focal Beta.
Using a GTX1060 with any proprietary drivers (I tested 440, 435, 390)
breaks autologin.
Removing "splash" from /etc/default/grub and doing "sudo update-grub"
fixes it.
