It appears this bug was reported after you removed (?) the nvidia
driver, which is understandable. But that also means we have no logs
showing when the bug was happening.
Please run these commands to help gather the system logs of previous

Thanks for the bug report. You seem to be using the 'Oibaf' PPA and
describing graphics problems. This is not unusual as Oibaf is
unsupported and is known to cause bugs. Please remove that PPA from your

Here is the output from 'journalctl'. I think it shows X11 taking a
SIGABRT (signal 6) but I cannot find any X11 log files in /var/log . My
next tack will be to try installing a new version of ubuntu 20.04 .

update;apt-get upgrade' to get current (using Ctl-Alt-F2 to get a non-X
session). After that, I tried logging in to a gnome session, and got
logged out during login processing. This happened a few times; then
