@vanvugt Peter, the libinput dev said: "As a general rule, I'm not
releasing for every single patchfix, even if it is a crasher on some
devices. Canonical should apply the patch for their packages, but the
patch will eventually land in 1.10.1 when I get to it." So, yeah,
there's that.

That would be the ideal way to do it because the fix is already
installable in the CI Train PPA for the next Qt transition:

That should be in -proposed before Feature Freeze, if not before then.
Is there a compelling case
Is it possible to get just this fix in to bionic now without needing to
do an entire Qt transition? The mesa transition has been blocking
multiple GNOME transitions for a week and a half already.

My bug was duped to this one. After dist-upgrading 18.04 yesterday I

I just set the screen timeout to Never; dimming was already disabled. I

Following instructions provided by @cjjefcoat, I managed to get kernel -116
running.
It turns out that just removing the "ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test" ppa and
reinstalling the gcc-4.8 wasn't sufficient to get it downgraded to "gcc (Ubuntu
4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.4) 4.8.4". Anyway, *purging* the ppa
