I have the common problem of everything being too small when switching
to a 4K monitor. One issue is that X is setting DPI to 96 instead of
157 for my 28" 4K monitor.
This is a Radeon RX480 and I've installed xserver-xorg-hwe. If I run
get-edid | parse-edid, the correct dis

Using Wallch set to auto start and pic of the day
Ocassionally the display shows pic only as a portion with bottom portion
grey-out as shown in attached.
Sometime the greyed out portion occupies 80% of the screen always from the
bottom up.
I have the same problem with my brand new Pavilion 17 (product: HP
Pavilion Notebook (N9E13UA#ABA)) with the AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10
Compute Cores 4C+6G, and graphics VGA compatible controller: Advanced
Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Carrizo (rev c5). I tried the graphics
PPA's but "no joy". Ubu

I have had this bug for a while now but only figured out the fix recently.
Basically after each new kernel update in Ubuntu Gnome 17.04, when starting the
computer, GDM doesn't start.
I have to go to a terminal using Ctrl - Alt - F2 and launch a
"sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidi

Accepted xorg-server-hwe-16.04 into xenial-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-
server-hwe-16.04/2:1.19.3-1ubuntu1~16.04.1 in a few hours, and then in
the -proposed repository.
