Also, this is how it supposed to work. If gdm thinks it cannot start
wayland session, it wont display Wayland option.
Why does gdm thinks Wayland session is not available you ask? Because I
presume you have modesetting disabled, because installation or update
for nvidia
you don't need to install any external packages for i915 graphics.. if
you want to use a newer kernel then just install linux-generic-hwe-16.04
or -edge

It seems as if the basic Intel graphics drivers seem to be missing, when
I install the Intel program it seems to fail everytime. Since this is on
a duoboot laptop It would be more than a little tricky to reinstall.
