Okay... I'm seeing some glitches with Nouveau, but not all.
1) Spontaneous wake-ups, not going to sleep when told to, and similar are gone.
2) There is still improper detection of monitor configuration changes between
suspend and resume. Dlosing and reopening the lid fixed that in one instance,

On Thinkpad L540 with intel graphics:
External monitors are not recognized in display settings when plugged in
(into any port including VGA).
They *are* recognized after a reboot (not after logout).
After plugging out and the in again they are not recognized.

Today the same crash occurred, and this time I found nothing relevant in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log, but there is something in syslog:

Same here since 15.04 on lenovo l540 (intel graphics).
Changing the /etc/system.d/logind.conf default like suggested in comment 12
workarounded the problem for me.
