FYI - I and others I know have hit this crash on at least 4 different
machines using intel graphics after upgrading to 15.10.

Because I had installed the "tweak"program, and apparently used it
incorrectly, I messed up my 15.10 installation to the point where I
couldn't use my computer. So I reinstalled 15.10 and made numerous
attempts to upgrade my BIOS---with no success. (Accord
Solution in #8 worked for me as well. Upgraded to 15.10 and had the
garbled screen. The config file fixed it.
