Unreadable Window Titles & Indeterminate Checkboxes

The text of all window titles and some menu items is garbled and
unreadable. Also, it is hard to tell if the checkboxes in dialog windows
are checked or not. Attached is a screenshot of the Desktop Preferences
window that illustrates these issues.
I'm running Lubuntu 14.0.4 o
My system does not seem to like the nvidia driver (I went with
nvidia-340). The display looked like crap, even after working with
nvidia-settings. This has happened before; I think 173 may have been the
last driver that worked well for me. I back to nouveau and the older
versions of xserver-xorg-co
not sure what you want me to do with that.
I am not running in a live environment, I installed to disk
Is there a way to generate the report you need to a file that can be
attached or uploaded manually instead of trying to open a browser window in
terminal?

I have now tried to get 15.04 up and working properly on a new disk but
did not succeed and I have no intention being part of troubleshooting
problems with 15.04 since I plan on staying on 14.04 for at least two
more years.
