14.04.2 Classic. The only problem is tat every time I add a keyboard
shortcut I have to logout and login to get it working. Is there an
application that could do the same thing as logout-login?

I am using Xubuntu, why should a Ubuntu Live CD help?
BTW, the installed Xubuntu showed the correct shutdown animate. There
