So I was trying to follow this and get this set up on my Lenovo T440P
with a pro doc and two monitors (vga and dvi). I finally got it working
by taking the following steps, this took me a few days so if anyone
finds this maybe it'll help them too.
Initially I was on Trusty 14.04.

Well, I found that it's an issue with setting the right Paths for the
right installed NVIDIA driver, in my case GT540M 2GB. (Ubuntu 14.10)
It was poiting to nvidia-current, while I have the latest installed by
default for some reason which is way greater than the current, and I've
found also that

will NOT work is because of changes in firefox36's refusal to open URL from
other apps.

I had a go at merging the changes from 343.22-1 in Debian experimental.
The result is available in my PPA:
