I have the same problem with my 900x3e. The first line of the screen is white,
also when I reboot. When I completly shut down the laptop the line goes away
for a few minutes and then comes back.
When xubuntu is fully booted the line is only about 1/5 of full screen width,

with a Trident Microsystems CyberBlade XP4m32 (rev 91) graphics card
running on the xserver-xorg-video-trident driver. The desktop defaults
