Reboot with kernel parameter video.use_bios_initial_backlight=0 doesn't
allow to change the brightness either, OSD indicator appears but no
change in brightness occur.

I am using only lightdm and Unity. My lightdm.conf is attached above.
Also, in my case the screen does _not_ power down after 10 minutes, it

problems already mentioned: a hard freeze of my desktop after updating
from 10.04 to 12.04. I have also tried different kernels, checking

Before I speculate on more details about this problem, let me add that
pdecat's persistent fix works fine but requires an additional `update-
initramfs -u -k all` for the option to be set correctly.
I own two Apple aluminium keyboards of different generations (German
layout) , one MacBook Air and

I am running 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-35-generic-pae (32 bit) on a Dell E521
AMD dual core machine. I have experienced hard locks (IE a power off
job) and partial locks (still responds to raw keyboard mode commands
