Mark, I had the same error messages, they are generated because there
are two id's that match joystick's name. I don't know which one of the
two is actually for controlling the joystick events, so I set properties

I run into the same problem since a while. I followed the advice of Brian
Murray and manually applied the patch to the file.
I have to mention that the script is not the same as the patch suggests.
Therefore I edited the following line: (see screenshot)

now launching, and after running fgrxinfo i got this:

Hi there,
as the title says X crashes when pressing ctrl+space in Gimp, thus I first
filed a bug against Gimp, but the guys there told me that this would most
propably be an X bug, thus here I am.
After the crash lightdm starts asap and I am presented with the login prompt.
Looks like this bug is affecting me as well. Like may others, I am also
running 12.04.1 + nvidia, with 310.14 proprietary drivers and
3.2.0-34.53 kernel. But I am experiencing it under Gnome Classic.
