All,
The reporter of this bug provided a log file in comment #13 showing he
was using NVIDIA. Although I can't yet see the full evidence that this

How and what needs fixing depends on the outcome of more testing on
fglrx that I have not had time to do yet.
It really depends if the spin is always below
glXWaitVideoSyncSGI/glXSwapBuffers, or if the functions are returning
back to compiz on each iteration (too quickly).

Hi all.
We need to be focussed and specific or else bugs like this never get
resolved.
Since all the stacks I have seen so far have been identical hangs in
i965_dri.so, I have now clarified that this is an Intel graphics driver
bug. Although a workaround in compiz might still be possible.

I am having the same problem on both my new asus zenbook prime UX32VD
(intel 4000) and my old custom-built desktop (well-supported nvidia

it is not gnome/unity/compiz specific. This is a pretty major bug as it

So far, my conclusion is that something in xserver-xorg-input-evdev (?)
was changed from 11.10 to 12.04 that causes this sporadic behavior.
Now, if anyone could supply a temporary workaround for this bug, it
would be highly appreciated - like reloading a module or some such.

Dac, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X200s with the same problem. My
workaround was a bit less drastic: I've moved to Unity 2D. It isn't
quite as slick to use, but it looks and behaves almost the same and I
haven't experienced the problem in four days of heavy use. (Suspend and
resume ~20 times a day.

Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1033533, so is being marked as such.
Update: This is not a problem local to the Lenovo X200.
I have changed to a Samsung Series 9 laptop, and the problem showed up
also here.
