After applying the new 295.53 driver, 3D Unity still doesn't work. I

Upgraded to 12.04 from 10.04, using USB thumbdrive. Tried re-installing
twice, same result. My PS/2 keyboard doesn't get detected. It works well
with 10.04.

I have used for a while a Chromium instead of a Firefox and the problem
is still there. So it does not depend on Firefox as I assumed first.

Installing 295.53 changes nothing. X-session freezes very soon. I think
that my bug has nothing to do with Unity, because in same machine same
problem is with OpenSUSE 12.1 KDE enviroment. There must be something in
xorg or kernel or nvidia driver.

When disconnecting the external monitor from my thinkpad with ubuntu
12.04 X crashes and I get a new login screen presented on the laptop
display - loosing all non saved data...
Prior to 12.04 (I am not sure about 11.10 cause I skipped it) X simply
switched to laptop display
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:
sudo apt-get clean
Then try

should work.
or perhaps the newest stable kernel 3.3.6
Since DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) is in mainline, linux machines
freezes a lot more :-)

What does moving the file to /tmp solve? For the default install /tmp is
on the same fs as root, so it would just fill root instead of /home
(unless they're both the same fs..)
The best way to solve this is to move the file to the per-user runtime
dir, which we'll get for 12.10.

I have updated to the new 295.53 driver via the normal ubuntu precise update
process yesterday so it must have been rolled out to the
repositoriesunfortunately it has not resolved my problem. If I login to 3D
unity I just get a black screen with a movable cursor. Gnome3 does however work
