Unfortunately it appears that nobody has worked on your bug. I am not
the most knowledgeable person in this area, but I recall reading that

Determined what really stopped it from working.
If I use synclient TapButton3=2, 2 finger tap gives me middle click, 3
finger does nothing.
If I use synclient TapButton3=3, 2 finger tap gives me middle click, 3
gives me right click. Seems to be working fine now. Sorry for multiple

Figures right after I make yet another comment. Rebooted and both seem
to work now. 3 finger right clicking, and 2 finger middle click. Sounds
like it might have been that issue I was having on oneric where it
intermittendly stopped working until I rebooted.

It seems to be *not related* to xorg, but to Gnome sound system.
After disabling "Terminal Bell" in Gnome Terminal, the terminal works as
expected. There is an ALSA sink on my computer, which is not always
ready (bluetooth) and perhaps, Gnome waits for it instead of launching
the sound asynchronou
I assume there is some sort of race condition in system startup.

After filing comment #7, I rebooted the compaq system. As I was awaiting
the system to complete booting, after the Grub2 screen closed - I was

right - this is mainly an xorg issue. I´ve filed earlier bug reports on
this hardware - see in particular Bug #707755 against development
versions of Natty 11.04. :´

I think this might be a security vulnerability, because sometimes when
logging in with another user already - instead of showing zebra stripes
it can show content from the previous framebuffer.

Upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 and using nvidia-current with a 8600gtm
with unity and twinview with external monitor.
I had some sort of this "puzzle" on the external monitor since oneiric.
Now its on both screens but IIRC its just black and gray and not the things
from the last login.

Here is screenshots of the glitchy launcher. This happens (reliably) on
a 24" Dell monitor, the system is a Dell T3500 with Quadro FX 580.
This happens when I switch from the X display to a VT and then back. The

Here is a screenshot of glitchy menu behavior. Here, menus show the
background shadow effect, but the actual foreground text is missing or
partial, and shows up when you mouse over it.
In both cases, I believe the bug is that Unity thinks that some texture
or other has particular contents, but the
I finally installed manually 275.43 nvidia driver and fan control works
again. If you would like to try this soluce, don't forget to desactivate
all the nvidia driver in jockey-gtk and uninstall all nvidia packages:
