I couldn't install the nvidia-current drivers in the pendrive due to
size restrictions (1Gb). I will buy a 4Gb one, do install nvidia-current

In Unity 2D, i get really bad video playback unless I can force the app
to use the "Video Overlay" xv adapter.
And for example, in smplayer, I get blue window when it starts up,
which I guess is from the "Video Overlay".

laptop LVDS is _off_ and the DP is at native resolution worked. But if
I reboot there is a good chance the DP monitor won't come up and I'll
have to go through the whole dance of going to the console, running

the external monitor to light up now at 1024x768, but native 2560x1440
still fails.
