Thanks! From looking at the log, everything seems to be fine. EDID is
read out, and it sets up 1024x768@85 which is the mode preferred by the
monitor. At the end of the log, 1024x768@60 is set, I suppose this is
something Gnome does, maybe because of a user preference in
~/.config/monitors.xml.

I run a partition for test releases only. The main purpose is so when I
do a distribution upgrade on my working partition there won't be any
major hiccups.

Never mind. I just tried with Natty daily build cd image and it works perfectly
there =)
I might have tried one too many "solution" to get my bamboo working and there
were conflicting settings, or whatever...
Both the device and the new drivers seem to work anyway.
Thanks for all the work done wi
crashed in "ubuntu classic (no effects)" as well which I find weird. Was
using terminal programs and a firefox at the time so it shouldn't
stress the GPU much.

Yes it did. Unfortunately I can only verify that compiz was working in
Jaunty, 'cos I was not able to get Karmic, Lucid or Maverick to work on
my machine at all.

well after a lot of searching on Google, I have found a solution to this
issue:
editing xorg.conf and adding to section "Device" as follows:
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT-1"
Some times flicks or blinks for a second but at least now it works! I
guess the problem is related to the identification
Step by step to perfection, the blackscreen won't disappear. The gl_conf
was on nvidia, switched that around. Now some libs seems to be missing.

Panp7 running Ubuntu 10.10 with ccc 11.1 and after doing:
sudo aticonfig --set-pcs-u32=DDX,EnableTearFreeDesktop,1
...Now to go check how the Plymouth issues are doing...
