Yes, what's going on is when you attach the external monitor the Linux
kernel fires an event to reconfigure the monitors automatically. gnome-
display-properties hears that event and then changes the monitors to
match what's in your monitors.xml config file.

I see this too. It does not always happen, but when it does, that
terminal will remain affected. Doing a visual bell (terminal flash) will
clean up the corruption, but then I can trigger it again by having
something write a lot to the terminal, and the scrolling will get
