I'm having the same problem. My system is Ubuntu Maverick amd64. I'm not
using compiz but using metacity with composite enabled. The problem is
the same as those described by other people. I also tried running
metacity with compiz, the problem is still there. My current graphics
driver is a proprie

My card uses 64MB of RAM also. The driver disables EXA pixmaps if the
video RAM is 32MB or less. I'm wondering if this should be changed to
64MB or possibly more. Can anyone else confirm whether or not disabling
EXA pixmaps helps their performance?

Still no released fix for this bug!!!
My Ubuntu has been unusable for 3 months now! Starts only to command
prompt after upgrading to Maverick. I do not want to go back to playing
with command prompt/scripts/whatever of the (very) old MS-DOS days. A
computer is a tool for me, not a toy to play with
This bug report was marked as Incomplete and has not had any updated
comments for quite some time. As a result this bug is being closed.

Thanks for the hint. The problem was my setup was is /usr/share/mixxx,
not /usr/local/share/mixxx
I've copied the files to /usr/local/share/mixxx/ and the patched version
starts without problems, craches or waveform problems. The waveforms are
displayed correctly, where previously my X crach

The issue has gotten worse in Maveric Meerkat on 2.6.35-24 kernel.

I've tried the binary. I've renamed /usr/bin/mixxx and replaced it with
the mixxx Philip supplied. It complains about the database-version. I've
removed ~/.mixxx/ but that didn't resolve it.
The error is:
"Unable to upgrade your database schema to version 8.
Your mixxx.db file may be corrupt.
