Just finished installing Linux Ubuntu Live 10 on USB. Pop-up message
saying i dont have a driver installed to fully utilise the Graphics
card.
Selected activate and waited for it to download and install.
At end of installation it crashed.
Not very good at reports.

It isn't bug, the upstream already confirm that they will not support
the Driver for Linux. You can get alternate version through community
and forum which is can enable you native resolution.

Since failsafe-x was enabled in karmic it starts if gdm is disab
Dieter, no, this bug has nothing to do with suspend, and only pertains
to laptops with the newish nvidia NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs.
My nvidia blob just updated itself to 260.19.29 from the x-swat PPA.
Brightness controls remain broken.

The other bug does not sound like the bug I was having - "my" bug was
random crashes and not related to logging out. However, whatever was
causing it seems to have gone away now that I am using Kubuntu 10.10.

Using alt-tab with compositing on in Kubuntu Maverick will almost
reliably hang my GPU with this error repeating in the syslog:

The problem has gone away after "apt-get dist-upgrade; apt-get update; apt-get
upgrade" which upgraded more than 100 packages and included a dkms build for
nvidia. "dpkg --list" now reports:
