Is your lower part of the touchpad completely dead(not even motion of cursor)
or just scrolling problem. You can actually run evtest and see that your lower
part of touchpad is actually producing events or not by omitting the '>evtest'
in the evtest command.

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an external HDD without major problems.
However, I have an external monitor connected via HDMI to my Acer
Timeline 1810T notebook (Intel graphics). On this external monitor the

Removing fg
i am also having a problem with unity where i cant see any icons just the task
bars and desktop.
im running 10.10 desktop version i have an ati graphics card on a dell aspire
3050.

I'm now convinced that my problem is a different bug, as it is not

After upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10 on 2010-10-29, I've experienced the
following show-stopper a problem: I'm using gdm. However, upon entering
the correct password at gdm, the screen blinks and the gdm login screen
is built up again.

I disabled the "nvidia" driver and rebooted the system. It occurred no
kernel panic, as I would expect, but nouveau failed and vesa worked
instead. See the attached log for details.
